The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.

It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

The BCDP Platform below is designed to convey local Democrats' general views on particular issues. To better understand why we take these positions, please visit our "resources" page.

Ensure access to affordable healthcare for all by reducing unwarranted costs;

Not give a trillion dollar tax cut to the wealthy, while making the elderly and poor pay more.

Create better jobs, strengthen unions and reduce income inequality;

Not give corporations the legal right to slash workers’ benefits and wages.

Support teachers and our future through properly funded Public Education;

 Not fund vouchers and For-Profit Charters, that put profits before our children.

Support economic growth for all classes with a progressive and fair tax system;

 Not one that affords millionaires and billionaires the biggest tax-breaks.

Protect our environment with policies and regulations that are science-based;

  Not worsen environmental pollution by allowing industries to regulate themselves.

Human Rights

Protect Human Rights for all races, genders, religions, and sexual orientations;

Not unfairly discriminate based on stereotypes, hate, fear and prejudice.

Give law-abiding/taxpaying refugees and immigrants a reasonable pathway to citizenship;

Not tear apart families and reject those seeking freedom from poverty and violence.

Maintain a truly democratic voting process that’s accessible to all eligible voters;

 Not make it more difficult for elderly, low-income and minority populations to vote.

Justice System

Reform our justice system so that all individuals are treated equitably;

 Not privatize prisons that profit from mass incarceration.

Expand housing, transportation and health services to our veterans;

 Not limit access by cuts in funding and privatizing the V.A.

Invest in our local family farms and rural communities,

 Not deregulate corporate farms and neglect financial farming risks.

Enforce common sense gun laws to reduce 30,000+ needless deaths/year,

 Not allow suspected terrorists or people with known severe mental health problems access to guns.
